About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and curious Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will be a crucial support member, working directly alongside experienced engineers on real-world projects that impact our current and future vehicle programs. This is a hands-on opportunity to apply your academic knowledge to the fast-paced world of automotive EV development, from concept and design to testing and production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in Design & Development: Support engineers in the design of vehicle components and systems (e.g., battery enclosures, thermal management systems, chassis structures, body panels, interior trim) using 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX, SolidWorks).

  • Create and Update Models/Drawings: Help create 3D models, detailed 2D drawings, and engineering documentation, ensuring they adhere to GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards.

  • Support Prototyping and Testing: Participate in the build and teardown of prototype vehicles and subsystems. Assist in setting up and conducting tests, collecting data, and summarizing results.

  • Perform Engineering Analysis: Conduct basic calculations and analysis for design concepts, including structural integrity, tolerance stack-ups, and material selection under the guidance of senior engineers.

  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with teams across the company, including Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain, to help solve interdisciplinary challenges.

  • Problem-Solving & Root Cause Analysis: Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis for component or system failures, contributing to the development of effective solutions.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare clear and concise reports, presentations, and summaries of your work to share with the engineering team and leadership.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Creo).

  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, and thermodynamics.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Hands-on experience through coursework, personal projects, or previous internships (e.g., Formula SAE, Baja, robotics, machine shop work).

  • A passion for the automotive industry and electric vehicles.
